Yas Mall Introduces Robot Technology

The mall in Abu Dhabi hopes that the robots will help to improve customers safety in the location.

The introduction of these roaming robots is intended to help curb unsafe behaviour that can negatively impact the current Covid-19 pandemic. The robots are fitted with 360-degree cameras that can see if shoppers are adhering to the current guidelines when shopping at the mall. Behaviour such as not wearing a mask and adhering to the correct social distancing procedures can now be monitored by the robots.

These robots, which are controlled by the security team at the mall, will notify the closest security staff member of any unsafe behaviour meaning that this can then be dealt with swiftly.

Malls in Abu Dhabi were only permitted to reopen if they were following a strict set of guidelines that ensures the safety of any visitors and the mall hopes that by implementing these robots they will be able to monitor their guests more closely.
