The new store design will initially be rolled out to 200 locations across their portfolio.
The retailer intends to create a seamless omni shopping experience that offers customers a number of self-checkout kiosks and contactless payment options. Shopper and employee feedback has shaped the new store designs and given the recent popularity surge for contactless shopping and payments, Walmart expects that this new concept will be popular with their shoppers.
As well as utilising a number of contactless technologies to enhance the customers shopping experience, Walmart have redesigned their layout to make the shopping experience as easy as possible without consuming too much of the shoppers times. The layout brings greater visibility to key items throughout the store.
Janey Whiteside, Chief Customer Officer at Walmart has commented: “We’re working hard to make it easy for customers to be able to toggle between their physical experiences that are in the store and their digital journeys. We think customers are going to really enjoy and find this a much easier shopping experience.”
