Macy’s Launch Two ‘Dark Store’ Locations

The stores will fulfil online orders but are not open for in-store shopping.

Macy’s has announced that it is trialling a ‘dark store’ test ahead of the brands peak holiday season. Dark stores are becoming increasingly more popular as brands are seeing an increase in customers’ demands. Dark stores are retail outlets or distribution centres that caters exclusively for online shopping.

Initially, two stores have been converted; one in Dover, Delaware and one in Littleton, Colorado have been converted into Omni Service Centres that will be focused on fulfilment and order pickup.

The new Macy’s dark stores or, as they are being called, Macy’s Omni Service Centers, will offer customers the brands At Your Service and Virtual Seller offerings. Guests will be able to utilise In-Store & Curbside Pickup, returns, bill paying and many other offerings.
