The sustainable brand, which is already well-known for its sneakers made from natural and recycled materials, is now debuting its first apparel collection.
Since the brands launch in 2016, Allbirds has made an impact on the sustainable fashion market. Initially starting as an online only brand, the brand has enjoyed rapid expansion and now serves 35 countries via 22 bricks-and-mortar stores across the world. The brand is committed to using regenerative natural materials in the inception of its products, which prior to the launch of this apparel collection has been limited to sneakers, socks and underwear.
Much like the other products that Allbirds offers, the new apparel collection, which consists of a t-shirt, woollen jumper, wool cardigan and puffer jacket, has been created using regenerative natural materials such as merino wool and eucalyptus tree fibres. As well as this, each item displays its carbon footprint. This is in an effort to continue to commit to its Allbirds Carbon Fund, a tax to offset 100 per cent of the brands carbon footprint.
The company commented in a release: “Allbirds’s vision of evolved environmentalism has always been broader than just shoes, and the brand now sees an opportunity to play its part in helping to shape the future of fashion.”
