John Lewis Prepares for Virtual Christmas

The ongoing impacts of the Coronavirus pandemic are forcing retailers to utilise new and innovative experiences to engage with customers this Christmas period.

John Lewis and Waitrose are utilising a number of new virtual experiences this Christmas given recent lockdowns across the UK that will infringe on customers opportunities to shop for their Christmas decorations and gifts. The newly launched augmented reality app can be found on the John Lewis IOS app and allows customers the opportunity to virtually put their tree up to see what size and style works best for their space.

There’s a range of online events that are being hosted by both John Lewis and Waitrose on a whole variety of topics including make-up, zoom parties, and preparing a Christmas dinner. Waitrose Cookery School will be hosting a Perfect Prepare Ahead Christmas course where customers who are preparing Christmas dinner for the first time can pick up tips and partake in master classes on preparing items such as truffles that are perfect, thoughtful gifts for friends and family.

The brand has also launched its first ever virtual Christmas shop which went live in September and has been exceptionally popular with over 64,000 views since it debuted.
