Hunkemöller Looks For New Owners

Current investor group Carlyle is attempting to sell the lingerie chain although the current market conditions are making this transaction difficult.

American investor group Carlyle purchased the Dutch lingerie brand in 2015 and after just two years in 2017 tried to rid themselves of the brand through an IPO but failed to do so. Business bank JP Morgan Chase is now expected to find a buyer for Hunkemöller next year. However, the exceptional circumstances that the Coronavirus pandemic have created coupled with the brands recent struggles will find it difficult to find a new buyer.

Last year the group announced that it intended to grow the brands physical store portfolio from 940 to 1400 locations however; the brand has more recently announced that a number of stores in markets such as Belgium and the Netherlands will have to close despite this attempt to strengthen and expand its retail network.
