The Hong Kong shopping centre in Sha Tin has opened a rooftop turf sports park which is being hailed as the first of its kind in the region.
Sportzone features seven different fitness zones as well as a five metre tall grass slide that have all been created to encourage a more active lifestyle. Occupying a space of 35,000sq ft, Sportzone is fitted with areas that are intended for solo workouts and also will host three fitness sessions that are suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
New Town Plaza hopes that the opening of Sportzone will entice more local people to actively and frequently workout whilst also increasing foot traffic through the suburban centre.
The fitness park houses a hanging logs crossing path in the shape of an S with multiple logs that hang from a 17M long steel frame. There’s also a 15M rock climbing wall, a freestyle exercise area, a 2000sq ft basketball court and a mountain-forest inspired rest area.
