This year’s Beaujolais Nouveau Day annual event sees the Beaujolais wine bath taking place outdoors for the first time to provide a safer environment in the current Coronavirus climate.
Taking place at the hot spring theme park Hakone Kowakien Yunessun in Kanagawa Prefecture is hosting their annual wine bath event outside giving guests the opportunity to enjoy the stunning mountain range whilst drinking – and bathing in – the Beaujolais wine.
Originally launched in France, the third Thursday in November is celebrated as Beaujolais Nouveau Day, a holiday that celebrates the annual release of a new batch of Beaujolais Nouveau wine. The Hakone Kowakien Yunessun hot-spring resort decided to honour the holiday by allowing guests to bath in a pool filled with the wine.
The wine is poured into the bath at three times each day – 12pm noon, 2pm and 4:30pm.
