The Dubai-based e-commerce platform, which is one of the largest in the UAE, has confirmed that the move comes after a failure to raise further capital.
Founded in 2014 by Sarah Jones, Sprii has grown to become the go-to destination for expectant parents in Dubai and the Middle East. In the six-year short period since its inception, Sprii has grown into a multi-million dollar business with more than 100 employees. A letter to suppliers revealed the news that the company was going into liquidation.
Sarah Jones said: “This is an incredibly sad day for all stakeholders in Sprii. If a sale of the business is not possible, I will be woking hard to rehouse all of our team. I appreciate that many of you will feel pain here too, and I will work tirelessly with the liquidator to ensure the best result if achieved for all creditors.”
Grant Thornton have been appointed as liquidators.
