The Middle East based lifestyle giant has announced that circularity will be at the heart of its business model by 2030.
Majid Al Futtaim’s portfolio consists of hotels, communities, shopping malls and cinemas. The group’s entertainment portfolio includes Magic Planet, VOX Cinemas, Dreamscape, Lego Store, Little Explorers, iFLY Dubai, Ski Dubai, Ski Egypt and Wahooo! Water Park.
The company has already implemented a number of circular initiatives as part of its green strategy, including promoting recycling with customers gaining rewards each time they place a used bottle into the reverse vending machines. As well as this, the groups Soap for Hope charity project recycles soap from hotels and distributed to their communities with few hygiene resources. The company says it is likely to have 50 per cent less food waste by 2030.
Ibrahim Al-Zu’bi, Chief Sustainability Officer at Majid Al Futtaim, commented: “Our climate is changing and so is our way of business. We believe that we not only have the opportunity to embrace the circular economy movement but also the ability to lead the way so others can follow.”
