The masterplan and architectural scheme for the town centre in Kent will be led by architectural studio, Benoy.
The project will deliver an elegant, vibrant and sustainable town centre that offers visitors an improved range of facilities and acts as a cultural and community hub for tourists and locals alike. The scheme will include a number of key elements such as a significant number of affordable homes, an integrated and well-connected town centre, a 0.5 acre enlivened town square, over two acres of enriched public realm, substantial planting and landscaping to encourage biodiversity and a state-of-the-art leisure centre.
The initial designs for the town centre depicts an elegant streetscape which aims to attract a vibrant mix of independent retailers and businesses; an improved pedestrian and cyclist experience to encourage a greener and more sustainable community, heightened by refreshed green spaces and a welcoming community hub.
These elements working in harmony together are expected to bring new energy and vitality to Orpington, ensuring its prosperity for generations to come.
