Kiehl’s to Close Stores in Canada

The L’Oréal-owned company has announced that it will close eight of its 24 Canadian stores this year as it looks to expand its online operations.

As consumer behaviours continue to change and online shopping continues to grow, brands are undergoing periods of reflection and reorganising their operations to stay relevant to consumers and become more cost effective. As part of its new operational shift, Kiehl’s will focus on enhancing its direct-to-consumer online channel and its retail partnerships, which include Sephora, Hudson’s Bay, Nordstrom, Holt Renfrew, and Saks Fifth Avenue in Canada.

Two locations in the Greater Toronto Area will permanently close this year, along with two stores in Montreal, one store in Vancouver, one store in London, Ontartio and one in Edmonton and the Halifax Shopping Centre location.

The brand will continue to operate 16 locations in Canada.
