The sports retailer is in exclusive talks to buy Arcadia Group’s distribution centre in Daventry.
The warehouse has a rateable value of £3.08M with current business rates liabilities of £1.6M per annum. Until now, Boohoo Group, Amazon and eBay have all been in the race to acquire the distribution centre. JD Sports has now emerged as the frontrunner to purchase the warehouse for more than £60M.
The news comes after JD Sports were unsuccessful in their attempt to purchase Topshop and Topman, which were both sold to ASOS by Deloitte and have since relaunched on the ASOS platform. Following this, Boohoo Group purchased Arcadia’s remaining brands including Burton, Dorothy Perkinds, and Wallis for £25.2M.
If finalised, the £60M deal would see the repayment of a £50M loan to Arcadia made by Sir Philip Green’s family last year, and secured against the Daventry site.
