The company now operates 11 locations of its Amazon Fresh grocery format, including seven in California, as well as three other locations in Illinois.
The newest Amazon Fresh store has opened today (Thursday March 11) in Bloomingdale, III., occupying a total area of around 40,000sq ft. The store follows the same concept as the existing Amazon Fresh locations and offers customers a seamless shopping experience, with a number of extra perks available for members of the Amazon Prime paid loyalty programme.
The Amazon Fresh store features both a number of traditional checkout counters and the Amazon Dash Cart concept, which utilises a combination of computer vision algorithms and sensor fusion to identify items place in it. Another omni-channel offering is the use of Amazon Alexa voice technology and Alexa shopping lists. Customers can access their Alexa shopping list through the Amazon app, enabling them to quickly navigate the aisles, checking off items as they shop.
Amazon Echo devices are available throughout the store, allowing customers to ask for help via Alexa voice technology.
