The Finnish homewares retailer has officially opened its new flagship store in Japan, which acts as both a retail store and café.
The newly-opened flagship store is located on the first floor of Gem Aoyama Cross, a new development on a quiet side street in the Omotesando district. Boasting the new café concept and a retail store, the flagship is a global first for the brand, making it a go-to destination for Japanese locals interested in Nordic design and homeware.
Shoppers will have access to the brand’s complete range of glass and tableware, including the iconic Toikka brands, Kastehelmi glassware and Teema tableware. The café will give customers the opportunity to sample a selection of Finnish delicacies set to a design display of Japanese Chidori, ensuring a token of respect if shown to Japanese traditional crafts.
The brand’s reputation for sustainability is on show at the new store and SOLIDO typeF, a sustainable recycled material made partly from coffee beans is used to create the wall panel and counter unit.
