The Circular Hub is located at Ikea’s Goyang branch in the Gyeonggi Province of South Korea.
A global project launched by Ingka Group, the Circular Hub highlights the group’s commitment to prolonging the life of its items, thus contributing to circularity. The newly-launched Circular Hub is a transformation of the location’s existing ‘As-Is’ section, where recovered and repackaged products and second-hand furniture pieces are sold.
Boasting an open plan layout, visitors are able to see first-hand how Ikea employees execute the circular process. Repacking, assembly and sorting waste for recycling are some of the processes that visitors are able to see.
“With the launch of ‘Circular Hub,’ we are excited to support the many people with new, more inspiring ways to easily take part in circular and climate positive practices in their everyday lives,” Fredrik Johansson, the country retail manager and chief sustainability officer at Ikea Korea said.
“We at Ikea are more committed than ever before to becoming a people and planet positive business, maximizing the value of our products and resources to the fullest,” continued Johansson.”
