The iconic sports brand has revealed a new eco-friendly Stan Smith shoe that is made from mushroom-base material.
Called the Stan Smith Mylo, the new shoe has been named after the innovative new material which is made from renewable mycelium, which is the underground roots of mushrooms. The material is created using a highly efficient growth process that takes less than two weeks.
“The introduction of Mylo as a new material is a major step forward in our bold ambition to help end plastic waste. As a planet, we must learn to work with nature rather than against it and put all our efforts into finding innovative solutions that are created responsibly with resources that renew at a sustainable pace,” commented Amy Jones Vaterlaus, Global Head of Future at Adidas.
The new concept was brought to life through a partnership with Bolt Threads, a biotechnology company committed to creating the future generation of advanced materials.
