Amazon Opens First Ever Hair Salon

The high-tech hair salon is located in London’s Spitalfields allows customers to test out new styles and colours with augmented reality.

Coinciding with the reopening of hairdressers across the UK, following the country’s third national lockdown, Amazon has opened its very first permanent Amazon Salon. Currently, the two storey 1,500sq ft store is being tested by Amazon staff, but should open to the public over the coming weeks.

The salon is equipped with a host of cutting-edge technology for its clients to experience. Customers can virtually try on new hair styles and colours using an augmented reality colour bar which uses the same technology as virtual mirrors. Customers can also scroll through virtual magazines through Amazon Fire tablets at every styling station during their appointment.

Amazon said in a blog post: “This new store gives hair and beauty businesses convenient access to Amazon’s selection of more than ten thousand salon and spa products and supplies, from straighteners and clippers through to curlers and hair dryers. The store offers professionals benefits such as wholesale pricing and invoicing, no minimum order value, fast delivery and more.”
