Timberland Launches Take Back Programme

The American brand has partnered with ReCircled to launch its own re-commerce programme.

As part of the programme, customers will be able to gift Timberland-branded footwear, apparel and accessories back to the brand to be repaired and refurbished for sale on its re-commerce platform. The brand may also recycle and upcycle these items into future products.

The partnership with ReCircled comes on the back of the brand’s efforts to become more eco-friendly. Other initiatives include using regenerative leather and community cotton fibre and introducing more styles with GreenStride comfort soles, which are made with 75 per cent renewable materials.

“This take-back programme is a critical step in pursuing our 100 per cent circularity goal, while at the same time addressing the ever-increasing consumer demand for responsible design and progressive retail options,” Susie Mulder, global brand president for Timberland, said in a statement. “Timberland always builds our products for longevity. Now those products will have a second life, whether they are refurbished for resale, or disassembled and recycled into something new.”
