The recently refurbished DIFC restaurant now has an even more jungle-focused design than it did previously.
Amazónico has reopened for business following a refurbishment period started at the end of July. At the time, the DIFC three-storey restaurant promised to double down on its popular jungle setting.
The Time Out Dubai Award-winner has reopened in Dubai’s DIFC with a fresh new look. The expansive outlet comprises a bar and lounge area, dining room, sushi counter and rooftop space. The revamp comes from the acclaimed Lázaro Rosa-Violán, whose design stamp can be seen at Amazónicos around the globe (there are also outlets in London and Madrid).
Rosa-Violán has taken inspiration from “undiscovered landscapes in the Amazon” and has used natural materials to create a larger-than-life rainforest-style set-up. Amazonian butterflies, or mariposas, star in the new décor and can be seen on the walls, as well as in 3D hand-painted artwork hanging from the ceiling.
The bar and lounge takes centre stage with a ten-metre mixed drinks bar across the ground floor. Meanwhile the sushi counter has doubled in size, and now boasts burnt-orange banquets, woven-hessian lamps and tribal patterns for a unique dining space. Hanging by the staircase is a chandelier made from 22 different types of plants – weighing in at 250kg.
“We are very proud of our new, and dare-I-say-it, improved Amazónico Dubai,” said General Manager Michele Jenman. “It’s been an incredible challenge to complete the project within such a short time frame, however the results speak for themselves and we can’t wait to welcome our guests back to experience it.”
