The Swedish-furniture giant is trialling in-store Mobile checkout at its Logan and North Lake Stores in Queensland.
Beginning today, customers will be able to use the Ikea App to scan a product’s barcode, creating a virtual shopping cart. This can then be paid for at a marked checkout on the way out of the store. According to the company, this new checkout system is expected to speed up the purchasing process for customers, who will no longer need to pack, unpack and then repack trolleys or bags when checking out of the store.
Ikea Country Customer Manager, Christian Becker, said: “Our goal is to provide our customers with a consistent, seamless, and efficient shopping experience across all channels. Mobile check-out is a first for home furnishing retailers in Australia, and we’re proud to lead the way with this initiative with the aim of creating a no-wait checkout experience for our customers.”
