The $8bn Paramount Theme Park will bring together six branded areas including a Star Trek-themed zone called ‘Final Frontier.’

It has been announced by Chinese authorities that an $8bn Paramount Theme Park resort is being constructed in the southwestern Yunnan Province’s capital city Kunming. The theme park is expected to cover an of area of 643 acres with construction expected to take around 42 months, and a completion set for June 2024.

According to the plans, the development will be a ‘first-class and internationally renowned tourism and vacation destination.’ The six themed areas will include a Star Trek area called ‘Final Frontier’, meanwhile the Adventure City and Wonderland zones will house thrill rides including attractions inspired by Mission Impossible and The Italian Job and based on James Gurney’s Dinotopia, the dedicated dinosaur area will also boast thrill rides. As well as this, the theme park will house a Peanuts-themed area with a number of entertainment offerings.

The planned theme park will be the third largest in China, behind Universal Beijing and Shanghai Disneyland and Paramount Pictures is also creating Southeast Asia’s largest theme park in the Jembrana region of Bali.
