Malmö Designer Village is set to feature premium retail and dining brands alongside landscaped gardens, seasonal events, and multisensory elements that create an exceptional shopping experience.
Malmö Designer Village is being delivered by independent international specialist outlet developer Rioja Estates, fresh off the back of its success with the McArthurGlen West Midlands Designer Outlet, and will feature 18,000sq m of premium international and new-to-market brands in its first phase, which is set to open in Summer 2025 as one of Scandinavia’s largest designer outlets.
It is then set to expand to nearly 27,000sq m in Phase Two (scheduled for Autumn 2027), increasing expected footfall to 2.5 million a year and therefore placing it among the top 25 per cent of outlets in Europe in terms of visitor numbers. Phase Two’s potential visitor expenditure is expected to be €655M, placing the scheme in the top 25 per cent of European outlet centres, according to outlet retail specialists Ken Gunn Consulting.
The distinctive shopping streets and landscaped gardens will play host to a programme of seasonal events that will create unique points of difference to attract visitors, encourage repeat visits and increase dwell time. The multisensory experience on offer could include restorative and high energy areas, such as spaces for yoga, outdoor dining and an organic food market in the former and dedicated areas for physical exercise in the latter, children’s play areas, and a varied food and beverage offer.
