Global hotel giant’s expansion plans will also create more than 10,000 jobs throughout the Kingdom.
The company, which currently operates 15 hotels in the Kingdom with another 46 under development, has plans to expand its operations to more than 75 properties, including the introduction of new brands such as LXR Hotels & Resorts, Curio Collection by Hilton, Canopy by Hilton and Embassy by Hilton.
Speaking following a meeting in Riyadh with Ahmed Al Khateeb, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Tourism, Chris Nassetta, President and CEO of Hilton, said: “I commend the work undertaken by the Ministry of Tourism to facilitate the development of tourism and hospitality – this is a truly remarkable time for tourism in Saudi Arabia and Hilton is well-positioned to play a leading role in Vision 2030 creating new jobs as we welcome visitors from around the world.”
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has set itself lofty tourism targets as part of the country’s Vision 2030, including attracting 100 million international and domestic visits by the start of the next decade, boosting tourism’s contribution to GDP to 10 per cent, and creating one million new jobs in the sector, as the Kingdom looks to diversify its economy away from a reliance on hydrocarbons.
