PopMart, China’s art toys and collectible toys retailer, is set to make its European debut with a new store in the UK.
Acting as part of PopMart’s trial operation within the region, the new store has opened in Shaftesbury Avenue, central London. The store introduces its latest art toy products, SkullPanda Dark Maids and Mega Collection 1000% Space Molly x Meilin Cipher.
Founded in 2010 with its first store opened in Beijing, the company has since expanded into 23 countries and regions, including South Korea, Japan, the US, Canada and Singapore. Last year, the brand participated in MCM London and DesignerCon UK as part of its market testing and with an effort to create a solid fan base before entering the country more permanently.
The expansion into the UK comes a week after PopMart’s collaboration with KFC, which has since faced backlash and a subsequent boycott by a Chinese consumer rights group.
