The much-loved and iconic toy brand is set to return to the British high street within months following a deal signed with bosses to bring the brand back to the UK.
Toys ‘R’ Us went under in 2018, resulting in hundreds of its store across the UK closing permanently after failing to attract new investment. The store’s new owners, Toys ‘R’ Us ANZ Limited, which now has more than 900 physical stores across Australia and New Zealand, has confirmed that the brand will be returning to the UK in 2022.
The move comes as the firm has signed a new ‘long-term’ licensing agreement which allows it to offer its goods to UK-based customers, meaning that the iconic toy retail chain could start selling within months to British families and customers.
Toys ‘R’ Us Australia Chief Executive Louis Mittoni, who is overseeing and leading the UK launch, said: ‘I’m very excited to welcome over 100 years of retailing experience in our new team, who will lead the relaunch our iconic brand back into the UK market in the next few months.”
