Radisson Hotel Group has revealed it intends to move into the rapidly-growing cloud and virtual kitchen industry.
Radisson’s newly-appointed director of restaurants and bars in Middle East and Africa said the venture will take two forms. The first will be to build dedicated cloud kitchen spaces in upcoming hotels, and the second is repurposing kitchen space in existing hotels.
Director Joseph Chalfoun told sister title Hotelier Middle East: “In new hotels, we will introduce cloud kitchens and virtual concepts quite easily. It’s a no-brainer, if we’re not in it, we can’t win it. We want to be in cloud kitchens. It will help us introduce additional concepts.”
“We will build new hotels with cloud kitchens in mind. It’s an obvious way to increase revenue, not just for delivery but also for more efficient and diverse room service. A hotel could suddenly have an extra three or four concepts to appeal to communities and to in-room diners. The second thing about this venture, our hotel locations are always in prominent places. These hotels have great catchment areas where virtual concepts on delivery would work very well,” he continued.
