Shein to Open in Lisbon

The promise has been in the air since last year  and the official confirmation has just arrived. Shein is preparing to open its first store on Portuguese soil in Lisbon. The Chinese fast fashion giant , which already operates in Portugal in the online domain, debuts in physical format from June 4th to 12th with a pop-up store .

To materialize this first ephemeral store in the national market, Shein teamed up with Klarna , a Swedish specialist in installment payments that, in addition to the Chinese giant, also works with retail references such as H&M , Sephora , Nike , Macys or Ikea . The Shein x Klarna  pop-up store  will be installed at Garagem Lisboa, located in Jardim 9 de Abril, where customers will have the opportunity to discover and buy the Chinese retailer’s summer collection.

During this period, the space will offer Portuguese customers “the opportunity to try looks and make ups from summer festivals, participate in talksabout wellness, as well as participating in sunset yoga sessions,” says Shein in a statement. The initiatives, which also include activities like a fake tattoo station and express manicures.

Between June 9th and 14th, the  pop-up store will function as a real store, which means that “visitors will have the opportunity to buy products from the summer collection in physical form for the first time, from summer clothes, beachwear and accessories”, says Shein.

This pop-up format  will also be implemented shortly by Shein in Madrid, where it will have an ephemeral store from the 2nd to the 5th of June .

Founded in 2012, Shein has operations in Guangzhou, Singapore and Los Angeles, as well as other key markets. The retailer,  which is already worth more than the Spanish group Inditex, which  owns  Zara, and H&M combined, currently reaches more than 150 countries with an offer of more than 6,000 new daily fashion, beauty and lifestyle products, providing a total of 600,000 items.
