Dubai International Airport World’s Busiest in July

Dubai served over four million seats in July 2022 for domestic and international travel, surpassing London’s Heathrow Airport.

Dubai International Airport has regained its title of the world’s busiest international airport, whether measured by seat capacity or passengers flown, aviation body CAPA said in a statement.

The airport served over four million seats for international and domestic travellers in July 2022, showing a 28 per cent increase, compared to the previous month. According to the CAPA report, the Dubai airport served a higher number of passengers compared to London’s Heathrow Airport who stands at second place with 3.59 million passengers.

The report added that the rise in numbers is an indication that long-haul travel is starting to recover, especially since Emirates Airlines operates over 130 destinations. Since 18 July this year, 38 per cent of the airport’s seats are on flights of six hours or longer, and in the case of Emirates it is 56 per cent, the report said.

CAPA commended Dubai’s efforts to maintain itself as a global destination, despite the challenges affecting the aviation industry across the world.
