Announced by property developer Emaar in 2018, Chinatown was initially planned to open at Dubai Creek Harbour, however now plans have been announced to open the project at Dubai Mall.
Dubai Mall is already full of plenty of reasons to visit, including retail stores, high quality restaurants, family entertainment experiences and more. Now, Chinatown will add a further experience for customers to enjoy bringing a quality selection of shopping and dining outlets.
As with other Chinatowns across the world, it is expected that this experience will sell Asian cosmetics, Chinese-inspired trinkets and gifts as well as authentic Chinese food shops and bakeries. One of the hoardings by the entrance displays the Starbucks logo however it is not yet known whether this will offer a more traditional Chinese experience with a range of Chinese teas and moon cakes on offer, or the typical Starbucks offering of other locations in Dubai.
The ground floor of Dubai Mall now features a row of stores and restaurants which showcase Chinese architecture including a traditional curved roof. Red stickers cover the door and windows with a lion, symbolising the Year of the Tiger whilst some text reads ‘Coming Soon’ at the bottom.
