Madalena a Janela New French Shop in Lisbon

Amélie Lepic and Delphine Rosier have just opened the Madalena à Janela concept store , in the heart of Lisbon, at 140 Rua da Madalena (near Augusta Street), which inspired the store’s name. As a tribute to Portugal and the Portuguese woman, this French duo, who have nurtured a great friendship since childhood, bet on a selection of textiles, clothing, accessories, ceramics and cosmetics made by artisans and artists, mostly of Portuguese origin.

Following the motto, “every corner of Lisbon is missed”, the clothes are embroidered with Lisbon symbols, distinguishing the signature Luz Boa – the own brand, which the two French creatives launched with the opening of the new store with Made in Portugal, in local factories.

There are also Maison Jeanne ethical suitcases, with 100% national production, which choose the famous Portuguese swallow as a constant in their collections. There are also Made in Portugal towels made of pure linen, free of products chemicals and hand-printed.

Of the international names, the handmade ceramic pieces with a mixture of clay, reds and beach sand stand out, with the timbre of French Cecile Melestan. The cosmetics come from a French laboratory, although originating in Portugal.

“We did everything without the help of architects, we built it from scratch. We tried to put our heart in every corner”, says Amélie Lepic in an interview with NiT , revealing: “It was my sister who made the wallpaper, she drew some swallows. I chose all the colors and flowers.”

Madalena à Janela now plans to expand to digital, through an online store that is already being created. Also according to Amélie Lepic, the idea is “to get more people to value Lisbon to the fullest and to better understand our message”.
