Airport to Re-Open to Ease Traffic

Old Doha International Airport is set to open its doors once again to help with traffic congestion ahead of FIFA World Cup.

The airport is currently being used by Qatar’s royal family, VIPs and air force, airlines have said that the airport will re-open.

Jazeera Airways, flydubai, SalamAir and Pegasus Airlines have begun selling tickets to the Doha airport, starting 15 September. Doha International Airport was replaced by the Hamad International Airport in 2014, which has since become a major hub along with the growth of Qatar Airways.

Ahead of the World Cup, Qatar is expecting to attract more than one million visitors, Jazeera Airways announced on their website that starting next Thursday “all of our regular Doha flights will be temporarily moved to Doha International Airport.”
