The French jewellery house and retailer has chosen San Sebastian for their first Spanish location, with plans to open at the end of February.
Mauboussin will occupy an area of 115sq m in the commercial area of San Sebastian, after a period of consultation mediated by the real estate consultancy Areizaga. Marcos Areizaga, Director of the real estate agency said: “These movements confirm that San Sebastian is an essential city for landing French brands, due to its enormous proximity to the neighbouring country.”
Other jewellery stores that operate in the same San Sebastian shopping area include Suárez, PdPaola (which will also open its doors in the city soon) and Aristocrazy. The Mauboussin opening will be added to other recent arrivals on the same Churruca Street, such as those of fellow French brand Jott and Algo Bonito.
Mauboussin already has a presence that stretches beyond its home country of France with key markets for the brand including Europe, Asia and North America. In 2019 the company passed into the hands of the Galeries Lafayette Group when the group took over a majority stake in the jewellery house.
