MBT to Expand Asia Presence with 250 New Stores

Created in the mid-1990s by a Swiss engineer, MBT shoes were originally inspired by the Masai people in Africa, who are known are for their excellent posture and lack of back pain.

The engineer observed that the Masai people walked barefoot or in simple sandals, with a gait that involved a rolling motion engaging the muscles and joints. He set out to create a shoe that would mimic this natural walking pattern, conceiving the MBT shoe.

A team of biomechanics experts and shoemakers then created prototypes of the MBT shoe, known for featuring a curved sole that was designed to create a rolling motion as one walked. Today, MBT shoes are sold in more than 40 countries around the world, used by people with a wide range of foot and joint conditions, as well as by athletes and people who value the shoe’s potential health benefits.
