Lulu Group Announces Hyderabad Plans

Lulu Group plans to open its first Lulu Mall and Lulu Hypermarket in Hyderabad in August 2023. The retail opening is part of the business’ wider plan to invest Rs 500 crore in the state of Telangana as part of a memorandum of understanding with the state government.

The project will be the business’ first retail opening in Telangana, Lulu Group chairman MA Yusuff Ali announced at a press conference on 26 June, India Retailing reported. Lulu Group’s decision to invest in the state was solidified with a memorandum of understanding signed with the Government of Telangana at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2022.

Lulu Group will invest Rs 300 crore to rebrand Hyderabad’s former Manjeera Mall as a Lulu Mall. The mall will measure 5 lakh square feet and is located in the Hyderabad suburb of Kukatpally. The mall will create over 2,000 employment opportunities in the area and will play host to over 75 Indian and international brands.

The business’ upcoming Lulu Hypermarket will be located within the mall and will measure 200,000sq ft. Products which will be available in the hypermarket will include value fashion and accessories, lifestyle goods, groceries, home appliances, and personal care goods among others. The store will feature products by local trade sectors with the aim of boosting the local economy.
