The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) and the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) announced the news following an official visit last week.
Jeddah has been selected as the host of the FIFA Club World Cup 2023 and the tournament is set to be held from 12 – 22 December this year.
SAFF President Yasser Al Mis’hal said Jeddah is ready to hold this year’s edition of FIFA Club World Cup and to provide an unprecedented experience for players and fans. The city, he said, has a history of organising major sporting events and owns a wide range of advanced facilities and a strong infrastructure. Being chosen to host this championship, he said, is testimony to the Kingdom’s position, and its capability to host major international sporting events.
Al Mis’hal said: “The sports sector is a fundamental pillar of the continuous transformation process that the Kingdom is witnessing, as per Saudi Vision 2030, and enjoys unlimited support from the Saudi leadership.
“Saudi Arabia has succeeded in establishing its position as one of the most important and fastest growing sports destinations globally.”
