Nike Returns to Growth in Greater China

US sportswear giant Nike Inc. said first-quarter revenues increased two per cent to USD12.9bn, on the back of a return to sales growth in Greater China and a slight uptick in sales.

The Portland, Oregon-based Nike said Asia Pacific Latin America sales increased two per cent to USD1.57bn for the three months to 31 August, including a seven per cent increase in footwear sales in the region and a three per cent increase in equipment sales, partially offset by a 10 per cent decrease in apparel sales.

Elsewhere in Asia, Nike Greater China revenues surged eight per cent to USD1.74bn for the quarter, fuelled by a four per cent lift in footwear sales, and a seven per cent gain in apparel, partially offset by a four per cent decline in equipment sales.
