Hilton Launches Green Breakfast Initiative

Hilton has joined forces with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) West Asia, Winnow, and ne’ma The National Food Loss and Waste initiative to unveil its pioneering Green Breakfast initiative.

Building on the success of Hilton’s Green Ramadan campaign, which achieved a remarkable 61 per cent reduction in post-consumer food waste across properties in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, the new initiative aims to revolutionize food waste management in breakfast operations.

The Green Breakfast initiative, launched in collaboration with key partners, represents Hilton’s commitment to addressing the global issue of food waste. The pilot project, initiated in 13 UAE-based hotels, kicked off in August with the installation of production and plate waste systems. Baseline data collected during this period will be continually updated until November 2023. Hilton, in collaboration with ne’ma and Winnow, aims to establish best practices that can be adopted by the broader hospitality industry.

Hilton has launched the Green Breakfast Initiative to tackle food waste in the UAE. The project falls under the Recipe of Change initiative led by UNEP West Asia, supported by the GO4SDGs initiative and ne’ma – The National Food Loss and Waste initiative, a collaboration involving The Presidential Court, Emirates Foundation, and the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment.
