Cosmetics brand Sensai is set to open its first flagship store in Shanghai, China on October 27 as part of its expansion in Asia.
The brand describes the venue as an “experience-based concept store” representing its core values.
The space is divided into two areas: an immersive spa inspired by the traditional tea ceremony and a shopping area showcasing the beauty philosophy of Koishimaru silk in a minimalist style.
The store layout features a garden path (roji), waiting area (machiai), tea room (chashitsu), and seeing-off area (omiokuri).
All staff at the store mastered the art of traditional Japanese hospitality, promising to provide guests with a one-of-a-kind experience, the brand added.
Sensai has been steadily building up its presence as a Japanese luxury brand, mainly in Europe, over the last few decades. Its products now sell in about 3600 stores in more than 40 countries.
Kao Corporation, its parent company, is planning to scale up the globalisation of its beauty brands, by expanding sales in China and other parts of Asia.
Aside from Sensai, Kao’s portfolio includes Molton Brown, Curel, and Biore among others.
