Japanese department store operator Sogo & Seibu has opened a high-end department store in Malaysia’s newly opened upmarket shopping mall The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur.
The new Seibu department store, marking the chain’s third international location after two stores in Indonesia, spans about 23,000sq m and four levels.
Seibu at The Exchange TRX is home to more than 700 luxury international and Japanese brands, including Chanel, Dior, Mulberry and Hermes. It also houses the largest Beauty Hall in the country with 116 beauty brands. The department store was designed by UK architect Cardy Papa, who is behind the designs of major retail and department stores, including Selfridges, Galeries Lafayette and Brown Thomas.
The launch coincides with the opening of The Exchange TRX, a retail and lifestyle destination featuring 400 stores with a net lettable area of 1.3 million square feet.
