THE SOUTHSIDE, the brand new shopping mall of MTR Corporation has opened its first batch of shops on the ground floor.
This inaugural phase features a variety of dining options, household supplies and everyday services to support the daily needs of the local community. Also launched was the new access at Entrance/Exit B of MTR Wong Chuk Hang Station which seamlessly connects with the mall, bringing one-stop convenience to residents and the working class in the neighbourhood.
“Since the opening of MTR South Island Line, Island South has enjoyed seamless connectivity to the rest of the city, spurring the transformation of Wong Chuk Hang into a dynamic and thriving community. The mix of tenants at THE SOUTHSIDE are designed to meet residents’ daily needs, covering essentials such as shopping, dining, living and transportation. About 30 merchants, accounting for approximately 20 per cent of the total floor area and centralising on one of the five retail floors in the mall, have been opened in the first phase. The mall offers quick bite options, along with a variety of everyday retail stores, at the soonest to satisfy the daily needs of residents and working class prior to its full opening,” said Mr David Tang, Property and International Business Director of MTR Corporation.
The new access connecting the mall with Entrance/Exit B at MTR Wong Chuk Hang Station and some of the main entrances at road surface level were opened, together with the 24-hour pedestrian walkway connecting the residential buildings, Public Transport Interchange, bus stops and public light bus terminus to facilitate convenient and comfortable access as well as further enhance connectivity in the community.
