Saudi Arabia Announces World’s First Gaming and E-Sports District

The country is set to develop the world’s first multi-use gaming and e-sports district with themed hotels, real estate and retail.

Qiddiya Investment Company has announced the launch of the project’s Gaming and Esports District. When complete it will have huge gaming arenas, software development headquarters and even retail and entertainment outlets in a 500,000sq m district.

With the aim of attracting players from all over the world, the district will enhance the Kingdom’s position as a global centre for gaming and esports.

The announcement of the Gaming and Esports District is an extension of the support of Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qiddiya Investment Company for the gaming and esports sector.

Saudi Arabia has launched the National Strategy for Gaming and Esports as well as many initiatives that would contribute to achieving the Kingdom’s goals in the sector, which attracts the interest from two-thirds of society’s members.

Abdullah bin Nasser Aldawood, Managing Director of Qiddiya Investment Company, said: “The gaming and esports sector is one of the fastest growing, and we can see the ambitious plans of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to advance it.”
