Arcade bar group, NQ64, have announced they will be launching their first adults-only Laser Quest experience from 16th February, expanding their already popular Digbeth based Birmingham site.
The adults-only laser quest experience will be the first time the business has launched a new concept outside of the original brand and will offer guests the chance to play the ‘alien invasion’ themed concept in groups of up to 16. With a nod to the original N64 experience, the arena will feature neon graffiti with a ‘dystopian future’ theme and a carefully curated cocktail menu.
Guests will be able to access the experience through the Digbeth, Birmingham site, which will be closing for refurbishment from 4th to 8th February to make way for the new 2,750 sq. ft Laser Quest arena. The refurbishment will also add extra seating, a photobooth, additional games, and a larger wrap around bar for guests to enjoy.
Founded in 2019 in Manchester by Andy Haygarth and Matt Robson, NQ64 is a neon graffiti-covered drinking den where guests can enjoy retro arcade games and classic consoles alongside a curated list of game-themed cocktails and craft beers, accompanied by a classic hip hop playlist.
As ‘purveyors of retro gaming’, NQ64’s sites are filled with nostalgic and classic arcades and consoles sourced from across the globe, including fan-favourites such as Pac-Man, Mario Kart, Guitar Hero, Time Crisis and Point Blank, with SNES, MegaDrive, Gamecube, Xbox and PlayStation on the console lineup.
Matt Robson, co-founder of NQ64, said, “Since launching the original NQ64 back in 2019, we’ve cracked on and are now proud to have 11 sites around the UK. We are constantly trying to evolve our offering, experimenting with new games, lighting and bar design. This year saw us open our second London site in Shoreditch, our biggest yet with more games than ever, a huge bar, tons of seating and bookable spaces, and a dedicated kitchen, a first for us. We are also returning to existing sites and looking to improve the offering, most recently moving our original Northern Quarter site to a much bigger space over the road, with a large external terrace which is covered and heated enabling us to use it all year round. NQ64 Digbeth was our third NQ64 and is the next site to be reworked. We think Laser Quest is a mega addition to our offering and has been in the pipeline for a while and will hopefully be the first of many more to come!”
