Designed by 5+, their small-scale interior design project, Beauty Avenue, has launched in Shanghai and its focus was to transform a narrow corridor into a cohesive and inviting space within the larger Plaza 66 shopping mall.
To achieve this, the design seamlessly integrates elements such as custom lighting, discreet wall features and subtle wayfinding signage. These enhancements not only elevate the functionality of the area but also enhance its aesthetic appeal. Catering to the needs of beauty and wellness patrons, the updated space harmoniously complements the overall ambiance of the mall.
A small, wood framed portal signals guests off the main arcade to a garden-like promenade of palladiana flooring. Carefully illuminated custom leaf-like patterns are strategically positioned along the corridor to create the illusion of natural light filtering through foliage as it would be experienced through Chinese window screens. This latticework speaks to both tradition and contemporary materiality while enveloping guests on their path to wellness.
