Accor to Open First Swissôtel Hotel in Hungary

The new Swissôtel Lagoon Budapest hotel will offer 200 rooms and apartments overlooking a man-made lagoon by the Danube River.

After introducing its Pullman brand to the country earlier this year, the group has announced the signing of an agreement with Forty Management to open the first Swissôtel in Budapest. The new property will add to a growing portfolio of Accor hotels in Hungary, now including 27 hotels, and three additional properties in the pipeline.

The new hotel will be 100 per cent self-sustainable in terms of its energy needs thanks to environmentally friendly technologies such as solar panels and heat pumps. The new property will be constructed around a 10,000sq m artificial lagoon and 3,500sq m of sandy beaches. The development will be situated on the eastern bank of a secondary branch of the Danube, in the Pesterzsébet district of Budapest.

“Swissôtel Budapest Lagoon is a flagship project for us in Central and Eastern Europe. By combining Swissôtel’s standards and a unique experience with the Central District Lagoon City’s vision of an urban retreat powered by technological innovation and a commitment to good living and sustainability, we are poised to offer the region an exciting preview of the future of hospitality,” said Frank Reul, Vice President – Development Accor Premium, Midscale & Economy Eastern Europe, Balkans, Italy & Greece.
