The world-renowned theme park on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, is set to expand its offerings with a new and exciting addition.
Later in 2024, the park will debut a themed land based on the iconic “Wizard of Oz”, promising visitors an immersive experience like never before.
The Wizard of Oz, a timeless classic, is among the most recognisable intellectual properties globally. This new themed land at Warner Bros. Movie World will bring the magic of Oz to life, featuring meticulously recreated scenes from the beloved film. Guests will be able to explore the Gale farm in Kansas, navigate through the haunted forest, visit the Wicked Witch’s Castle and of course, marvel at The Emerald City.
Central to this new land are two family-friendly roller coasters designed to provide thrills suitable for all ages. The first, Kansas Twister, is a coaster for the entire family with a boomerang style but with a unique twist. Like popular rides such as Snoopy’s Soapbox Racers at Kings Island and Good Gravy at Holiday World, it will feature two duelling tracks. Riders will experience the excitement of racing forward and backwards, reaching speeds of up to 35 miles per hour, with the ride peaking at nearly 75ft high. The themed loading station, set within the Gale family barn, will add to the immersive experience, complete with ride vehicles resembling tractors and whimsical details like a cow perched on the barn’s roof.
The second coaster, Flight of The Wicked Witch, is a suspended coaster that will stand almost 60ft tall and reach speeds of approximately 40 miles per hour. This ride will be located inside the Wicked Witch’s castle, offering a thrilling yet accessible adventure for younger children due to its lower height restrictions.
This new precinct represents a significant investment by Warner Bros. Movie World, aimed at creating a multifaceted attraction that appeals to visitors of all ages. Beyond the coasters, the land will feature the Wizard’s Chamber, where guests can encounter the Great and Powerful Wizard himself. The design of the land will be split into two distinct halves: the “real” world of Kansas and the magical realm of Oz. Visitors can choose their path—either walking through Kansas to reach Kansas Twister or following the yellow brick road to embark on the Flight of the Wicked Witch.
