Malaysian mall operator Sunway has launched Ipoh Mall, set to be the largest in Perak when it opens by 2027.
The mall’s total development cost is more than RM1bn, with more than one million square feet of net lettable area (NLA) across four retail floors. It will also be designed to blend in with Tambun’s natural landscape.
Moreover, it will house the state’s first ice skating rink, an exhibition centre, a 36-lane bowling centre, a multipurpose sports facility, a gourmet garden and a 10-hall cinema with a seating capacity of approximately 1,500.
Sunway’s CEO, HC Chan, expressed his confidence in the group’s strategy to focus on Perak, building the township to be a “pit-stop” for travellers on the North-South Expressway.
“We are certainly bolstering our position in the northern region with the development of Sunway Ipoh Mall,” he continued. “This is part of Sunway Mall’s strategic direction to grow its retail space outside of Klang Valley by tapping into underserved markets and replicating the success of Sunway Carnival in Penang.”
