The new wave of closures, include the already-annouced Westfield Stratford site and addition to stores in Newbury, Blackburn, Bolton, Aylesbury and Wolverhampton. This news comes as a slight shock – since landlords of these locations have earlier agreed to 70% rent cuts as part of the firm’s current restructuring process.
A report and data from the high street analyst Kantar showed Arcadia was suffering as a whole – suffering a sales fall of 14% in the 12 weeks to December 15. However, this figure hasn’t been confirmed by the company and is reflective of the firm operating fewer stores in the last quarter of 2019 rather than just weak sales.
