Leading retail groups in Dubai have put forward suggestions that retailers in Dubai which currently have long-term tenancy contracts should have two to three months’ notice period available, should they require it.
The next months will prove a testing time for the retail sector in general, with the Middle East coming as no exception. Major changes are potentially on the way for the tenant mix at shopping malls, as well as on street-side retail locations.
“Being allowed to serve two to three months will benefit both tenant and landlord – this way there will be minimal disruption to both operations. A one-month notice leaves too little time for adjustments and to seek options.”
The head of one of the biggest luxury retail groups in the country.
