Design International Foundation presents Food Court Remastered

In this period of forced “distancing”, Design International has decided to “relaunch”, putting its passion and creativity in favour of research and education. These are the inspiring principles of the Design International Foundation, a non-profit institution in the process of being established, sponsored by Design international, a multidisciplinary architectural firm specialised in Mixed Use & Place Making projects.

As its first initiative, DI Foundation presents Food Court Remastered. Retailers around the world are facing their greatest-ever challenge as the COVID-19 pandemic grips every country. How are owners and retailers in your country but also other regions of the world coping and responding to the needs of their customers, communities, and the business itself? One thing we are all certain of is that guests’ safety has become of much greater importance.

Gianluca Gerosa, President in pectore of DI Foundation, said: “The key in this particular moment – where Hospitality, Shopping, Food and Entertainment venues are gradually re-opening their doors to the public – is guaranteeing safety without compromising customer experience and community engagement. As a nonprofit organisation, focused on socially sustainable projects, we have thought of a service product that couldhelp the Retail & Leisure world in this challenging period which we have branded as Food Court Remastered”.

Design International Foundation has sponsored Food Court Remastered, an easy to use Design Planning Service, delivered by Design International, that enables Malls Owners to re-configure the food courts within their properties, wherever they are in the world. Aligned with the company’s corporate social responsibilities and ethical values, Design International will reorganise the layout of 300 Food Courts in 300 design days, matching the 300 malls that the company has completed over its 55 years of history.

Food Court Remastered is available to all mall owners from 12 May 2020 at www.designinternational.com/giveback, with an App to follow swiftly that will enhance customer experience. Davide Padoa, CEO of Design International and member of several retail associations in various countries said: “The App is a customer journey facility that helps visitors in planning their visit to the mall. It can be used by guests, retailers, and property managers, and it is thought to improve the customer experience well beyond Covid-19. It can be used in the future to link promotions, events and customer flows to plan individual and personalized experiences, putting people and the quality of their time at the centre of the places we
design”.
